True, anything we see in anime is great and at times funny...but in this one, it's that, and so much
more! Azumanga Daioh takes us to a world of high school girls who are like us, only in Japan...and skirts. They're funny,
random, at times stupid (Tomo), and...bah, just check out the characters! Oh, and the animation thing on the home page is
Azumanga Daioh ^_^!
Name: Chiyo Mihama
Known as: Chiyo-chan
Age: 10
Chiyo-chan is probably the most caring child you will find
on this show, besides Sakaki and her cats. She is small, of course, but has skipped many grades for someone her age. She is
in High School and likes being with her friends, and baking. Her dislikes include riding in the Yukari-mobile.

Known as: Sakaki
Age: somewhere in her mid-teens
Sakaki is one of the tallest amongst the students in her school,
and the people in her group of friends. She has an obsession with pretty much anything cute and cuddly, especially cats. Too
bad she always gets her finger bitten. Dull, quiet, but talkative when forced to, Sakaki reminds me a bit of Gen (On her quiet
days.) For some reason, one of the students has a crush on her. Did I mention that student is a girl? Poor miss Sakaki...
Name: Koyomi "Yomi" Mizuhara
Known as: Yomi
Age: mid-teens
Yomi would be considered the most mature and "normal" girl
in school, if it wasn't for the bad influence of her childhood friend Tomo. She's smart, casual, and doesn't appear to have
many flaws...other then her constant obsession with her weight. She always goes on diets, and thinks she still gets fat. Someone
should introduce her to reality...She practically grew up with Tomo, who gets on her nerves, and keeps her wrapped up in constant
insults. Ahh, the dearest of friends are always idiots.
Name: Ayumu Kasuga
Known as: Osaka
Age: Mid-teens
Osaka got her name from Tomo, who simply decided she was named that way since she comes from
Osaka. Unlike the other girls, Osaka speaks in a type of Southern accent, and has a mind of her own. She's very childish,
and will pretty much believe anything you tell her. She always falls asleep in class, or gets distracted by anything in her
random imagination (sounds familiar...). Don't let her weirdness fool you, she's very impressive at times...I think?

Name: Tomo Takino
Known as: Tomo, Idiot, moron, and whatever else Yomi says.
Age: mid-teens
Okay, let me put it this way...Picture me in an anime with a Japanese uniform, and there you
have it. Tomo. She's the most energetic one of the group, always challenging others to the weirdest challenges, and rarely
ever coming out the winner. If she has to prove herself, she will. Tomo can be put as the childhood image of miss Yukari.
Crazy, careless, but managing to pass by copying off her friends. Go Tomo, go!!

Known as: Kagura (I always wondered why...)
Age: Mid-teens
Kagura joined the class in her second year. She's really sporty, and a bit of a tomboy. She
imediatly declared a friendly rivalry against Sakaki, who is as good in sports but doesn't really care for them. Unlike her
partner-in-crime Tomo, Kagura isn't as insensitive and unthinking. She has a soft side, which she barely ever shows, and likes
being in the company of her friends. But she gets along well with Tomo, and the duo goes on to become a very disruptive force
in the class, along with Osaka.

Known as: ...Kaorin
Age: mid-teens
Remember when I said Sakaki had someone who kind of had a crush on her? Well, here she is.
The infamous Kaorin. She completely idolizes Sakaki, a bit too much, and hates if others get to do stuff with her and
she doesn't. Lucky for her, someone likes her back. Too bad it's the strange teacher, mister Kimura.
Name: Yukari Tanizaki
Known as: Yukari, miss Yukari
Age: mid-twenties
You think YOUR teachers are crazy? Well, meet Miss Yukari. She is a wild English and
homeroom teacher and acts like she's Tomo's age (in maturity). Many would say Yukari never grew up. She always challenges
the school's most mature PE teacher, and her best friend, miss Kurosawa, whom she calls Nyamo. Yukari is the example of a
teacher I would love to have as homeroom, minus all the wacking the students on the head with a book.
Name: Minamo Kurosawa
Known as: Miss Kurosawa, Kurosawa, Nyamo (by most), miss Nyamo
Age: mid twenties
The complete opposite of Yukari would be Nyamo. She's calm, understanding, dutiful, and loved
by all the students. Sadly, her responsibility include keeping the students, along with miss Yukari, under control. Nyamo
and Yukari have been friends since their days in high school together, which nets her knowledge of all of Yukari’s
most embarrassing moments. Wouldn't that be hard to keep to yourself? Somehow, she manages.
Name: mister Kimura
Calls himself: Kimuran
Age: Retarded. I mean, Late 30's, early 40's...
The age says it all...mister Kimura has issues when it comes to shutting his mouth. Not that
he talks too much, he just never closes his mouth. It's kind of funny though. He strangely wanders in the school, showing
up at the most random moments. Of course, his weirdness must continue by mentioning: He likes High School girls...likes them
a bit too much, even, mostly Kaorin. He is a Classics teacher, but I've yet to see him teaching, in what I've watched
so far.
